David (Dave) Herschel Barnes, 70 of Washington, IN. died at home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.  He was born at St Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago, IN, the son of Reba(Webster) Barnes and Herschel Barnes of Whiting IN.

Dave attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and Whiting High School. Following graduation, he earned a Computer Science degree at ITT in Evansville. Dave worked in steel mills in East Chicago, and for Schum Monuments in Dale.

Dave was preceded in death by his Wife of 19 years Cynthia (Martin) Barnes in 1994, his parents, and a brother, Dallas.

He is survived by Wife Jane Ann (Larkin) Barnes, daughters Amy (Russ) Cook of Charlestown IN,  Laura Barnes of Franklin IN and sons Brad Barnes and Greg Barnes both of Indianapolis. And stepchildren Todd Raymann of Washington, Sarah Raymann of Jasper and Adam Raymann(deceased). Grandchildren include Seth and Danielle Cook, Aiden Zorn, Kamryn Kurtz, and Jacob Raymann.

Also surviving are siblings Wayne and wife Shirley of Rockville IN, Loretta and husband Donald Patterson of Demotte, IN, brother Lynn Barnes and wife Sandy of Munster IN.

Dave and Jane lived in both Dale and then Washington where they enjoyed their extended family and friends.

Dave will be remembered as a bigger than life figure with a hearty laugh who loved sports and his beloved Chicago Bears.  In failing health, the past few years, he and Jane both enjoyed their pool, visiting friends, and hosting holidays at their home in Washington.

A private family Service of Remembrance will be held at Fuller Funeral Home with burial to follow at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Dale.
